Opened in 1954 by Charles L. Gambel Sr., the Gambel family has owned and operated General Heating and Air Conditioning since its inception. The baton was passed down in 1976 to Charles L. Gambel Jr., and once again in 2001 to the third generation of Gambels.

1954 — Founded in New Orleans

Charles L. Gambel, Sr. opens General Heating & Air Conditioning, establishing a family-run shop built on integrity, craftsmanship, and customer care.

1976 — Second-Generation Leadership

Ownership and day-to-day leadership pass to Charles L. Gambel, Jr., continuing the hands-on, family-owned model and expanding the company’s capabilities.

2001 — Third-Generation Era

The baton passes to the third generation of the Gambel family (managed today by Patrick Gambel), pairing old-school service values with up-to-date HVAC tech and training.

2005 — Post-Katrina Recovery Work
